Travel Funding - 2023-24

The Community Game Board (CGB) have reviewed travel grants ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Several options were considered, but the preferred option will prioritise funding for teams travelling to and from the mainland, as well as those travelling significant cumulative distances on the mainland at Regional 1 and below in the Men’s game and Championship 1 and below in the Women’s game.

For onshore mainland travel grants, teams who meet certain cumulative long distance mileage thresholds will be funded on a sliding scale.

Unlike the last 2 years, there will be no application process in place for these grants. Teams who have qualified for travel grants will be notified this week (10-15 July).

Success in the Papa John's Men's Community Cup meant neither St Austell (champions of Regional 2 Tribute South West) and St Ives (Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall) were able to attend as they had travelled east to prepare for their semi finals the following day.

However Perranporth were there to collect their award for Counties 3 Cornwall.

Falmouth were presented with the You've earned it award after persevering throughout their league programme despite losing all 22 games.  They did enjoy late season success by reaching the semi finals of the Papa John's Cup.

The South West is again grateful to sponsors St Austell Brewery for hosting the evening and their continued support of rugby in the South West.
